The much-anticipated Google I/O 2022 developer conference is about to begin. TECHBOOK provides an overview of what new things Google might show us.
On May 11 and 12, the latest developments from Google will be presented. Not only software-specific innovations will be introduced, but also hardware. For this reason, the event is not exclusively aimed at developers. Consumers will also get their money’s worth. Find out what could be presented at Google I/O below. It kicks off on May 11 at 7 p.m. (CET).
Much has already leaked, but the final facts will only be revealed at the Google I/O 2022 developer conference. The hottest topics will very likely be Android 13 and various hardware, including the Pixel series.
Android 13
It’s no secret that Google is working on its new operating system version, Android 13. Some leaks have already surfaced, providing insight into what the developers in Mountain View, California, are currently working on. TECHBOOK has already reported extensively on the possible new features. In addition to the known announcements, the company might also introduce further innovations. The firmware rollout is planned for fall 2022. As is well known, the Google Pixels will be the first, followed by other Android smartphones gradually.
Pixel 6a
In October 2021, Google launched the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro smartphones. However, a mid-range model as a successor to the Pixel 4a and 5a has been missing so far. Now, the Google Pixel 6a might be introduced. An improvement in the camera is quite conceivable for the flagship’s light version, unlike the previous models of the a-series. The design could be similar to the Pixel 6 phones, but in terms of specs, the new smartphone is expected to appear more scaled down.
Google Pixel Watch
For years, users have been wondering if Google will present a smartwatch. According to leaks, Google will introduce the Google Pixel Watch at I/O 2022. The acquisition of Fitbit was also an indication of this. But what will the smartwatch look like, and what features will it likely have?
According to the published renderings, it will be a watch with a round display and some health and fitness tracking tools. The diameter could be about 40 millimeters. However, it is still unclear whether the Pixel Watch will be compatible with all Android phones or exclusively integrated into the Pixel ecosystem, reports The Verge.

Wear OS
Also, because Google might present the Pixel Watch, the question naturally arises as to which operating system the watch will get. More specifically, it is also about how WearOS will change. The Pixel Watch, should it appear, will be the first smartwatch outside the Samsung lineup with WearOS 3, tweets blogger Shane Craig.
Google Pixel Buds Pro
In terms of headphones, other manufacturers are far ahead of Google. According to leaker Jon Prosser, Google might introduce the Pixel Buds Pro at its developer conference Google I/O 2022. Not much is known, but it is said that the headphones will come in various colors.

Miscellaneous
Finally, the company is expected to present more innovations at its Google I/O 2022 developer conference. These include various changes and improvements to Android and Google TV. A new Nest Hub, the in-house smart speaker with a display, might also appear, reports Digitaltrends. There are also rumors that Google is revamping its payment service Pay and turning it back into a wallet app.
Logically, these are all just rumors. Whether the mentioned devices will actually be presented remains to be seen. However, they are conceivable, as some leaks and announcements have been circulating for some time.
