Amazon has introduced two new Kindle models: the Kindle Colorsoft with 16 GB and the Colorsoft Kids. These two eReaders expand the range of color models that Amazon launched with the first Colorsoft last year.
The new eReader continues to be marketed under the name Colorsoft. However, it is a new version of last year’s model. Among other things, Amazon has adjusted the storage and is introducing a special version for children—the Kindle Colorsoft Kids.
Kindle Colorsoft Kids – eReader Specially for Children
The new Kindle Colorsoft with 16 gigabytes of storage is a slightly pared-down version of the Signature Edition from 2024, which offers double the storage space. Users of the new device will also have to do without wireless charging and automatic adjustment of the backlight according to lighting conditions.
In addition to a color E-Ink display, the new model features contrast adjustment and variable color temperatures for the front light, ensuring a pleasant reading experience. Users can enjoy colorful content such as book covers and illustrations in eBooks. A mode with inverted colors is also integrated. The package includes a three-month subscription to the eBook service Kindle Unlimited.

The Kindle Colorsoft Kids is a first, as it is the first Kindle model with color display specifically designed for children. The eBook reader is free from distractions like notifications and apps, allowing for complete focus on reading. It also supports audiobook playback via Bluetooth. The package includes a child-friendly cover and a one-year subscription to Amazon Kids+, a platform with a wide range of children’s books, audiobooks, and comics. Available titles include popular series like “Harry Potter” and “The Three Investigators.” The reader offers additional features such as integrated vocabulary training, a font tailored to reading difficulties, and parental control options.
Prices and Availability of the New Kindle Models
The Kindle Colorsoft with 16 GB is available for 259.99 euros, making it 30 euros cheaper than last year’s Signature Edition. In contrast, Amazon is asking 279.99 euros for the Kindle Colorsoft Kids. Both new eBook readers are available now on Amazon.
