At the launch of MegaSport, Telekom offered the package for just 39 euros per month during the first year of the contract. After this period, the cost increased to 48 euros per month. Now, however, the offer is becoming significantly more expensive. Existing customers will have to pay 56 percent more in the future. But new customers will also face higher prices.

MegaSport by Telekom up to 56 Percent More Expensive

Anyone who now opts for Telekom’s MegaSport package will pay 55 euros per month in the first of the two contract years. That’s 16 euros more than before, or a price increase of 41 percent. After the first year, the sports package has always been more expensive. Previously, customers paid 48 euros, but now it will be a hefty 75 euros per month, which corresponds to an increase of 56 percent. The new price applies to existing customers after the minimum contract period expires.

Customers who disagree with the MegaSport price increase can cancel their contract with Telekom without adhering to the notice period. Otherwise, the new costs will automatically apply.

However, nothing changes in terms of content. MegaSport by Telekom continues to offer live sports packages from Wow, DAZN, and Magenta Sport as before. These include, among others, games from the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga, conference calls, live games from the Premier League and the DFB-Pokal, as well as around 120 Champions League games. But also Formula 1, NFL, NHL, NBA, or the ice hockey league PENNY DEL are part of MegaSport. The package can be added to all MagentaTV offers–except MagentaTV Flex and MagentaTV Smart Flex.

Price Advantage Over Individual Booking Gradually Disappears

Despite the sometimes sharply increased costs, Telekom’s MegaSport package still offers a price advantage over individual bookings. For Magenta Sport, the company charges individual costs of 7.95 euros per month, Wow Sport including a premium option for two parallel streams, full HD, and Dolby 5.1 costs a total of 40.99 euros in the monthly subscription. The DAZN Unlimited monthly subscription is the most expensive at 44.99 euros. Both Sky and DAZN can be booked as an annual package, then costing 34.99 euros per month each.

In total, the sports packages from the providers add up to a total price of 93.93 euros in the monthly cancellable version, or 77.93 euros in the less flexible annual package. Since Telekom will charge 75 euros for MegaSport from the 13th month onwards, the price advantage over individual bookings is significantly smaller than before. Customers who, for example, do not need the services included in Magenta Sport–such as the 3rd League, German Ice Hockey League, etc.–can even save money by booking the sports packages individually.
