With the elimination of the ancillary cost privilege in July 2024, IPTV has seen significant growth. One of the largest providers of internet television is Zattoo. However, its cheapest package is now becoming more expensive.

In times when hardly a week goes by without an announcement of a price increase, Zattoo is now also making its voice heard. The IPTV provider is adjusting its prices for the paid Smart HD package in Germany. Starting July 1, 2025, the price for the monthly subscription will increase. The annual subscription will also become more expensive, albeit a bit later. However, not all Zattoo customers are affected by the price increase.

Zattoo Announces Price Increase for New Customers Starting in July

The price increase is 50 cents per month and applies only to new customers who subscribe. They will pay 6.99 euros for the Smart HD package starting in July, up from the previous 6.49 euros. The annual subscription will be raised to 79.99 euros starting August 4–an increase of five euros. The provider justifies the adjustment with increased licensing and operating costs as well as an expanded channel offering.

Since Zattoo is announcing the price adjustment in advance, interested parties still have the opportunity to subscribe to the Smart HD package at the lower price. Although this only saves six euros per year, since Zattoo is by no means the only provider raising prices, such an amount can quickly add up. Incidentally, existing customers also include those who register for the free trial month by June 30. They can thus secure the previous prices of 6.49 euros monthly or 74.99 euros annually in the long term.

What the Smart HD Package from Zattoo Offers

The Smart HD package is Zattoo’s cheapest paid subscription. It includes more than 200 TV channels in HD quality. These include well-known programs such as ARD, ZDF, RTL, ProSieben, SAT.1, and VOX. Additionally, features like time-shifted TV, restarting ongoing shows, and the Zattoo library with around 30,000 series, movies, and shows are included.

The package is intended for use on smart TVs, streaming sticks, and TV boxes, but not on mobile devices like iPhones or iPads. Also, with the affordable subscription, you can only stream on one device at a time. Those who need two or more simultaneous streams or want to use Zattoo on mobile must switch to the Premium or Ultimate subscription. The prices here are 9.99 euros and 13.99 euros, respectively, and remain unaffected by the price increase.

Price Increase Still Moderate

Compared to other providers, the price increase at Zattoo is moderate. For example, Wow from Sky is significantly raising the prices for the sports monthly subscription by nine euros to 44.99 euros starting in July. The additional option Wow Premium is also becoming more expensive. Both new and existing customers are affected.

Additionally, a price increase at Paramount+ took effect in early June. Here, the costs for the standard subscription rose by two euros per month to now 9.99 euros. As with Zattoo, the changes do not apply to existing customers.
