It specifically states: “The screen is covered with a film that prevents shards from scattering in case of damage. Please do not remove.” The protective film on the Nintendo Switch 2 is designed to protect users from flying, sharp, and potentially very dangerous shards in the event of damage.

Nintendo issued a similar warning with the first Switch. This may come as a surprise to many, as with many other electronic devices, the protective layer primarily serves to protect the device from scratches or even breaks. That is not the case here. It is therefore assumed to be less robust.
