Several video games have already been announced for 2024 that have real highlight potential! The TECHBOOK editorial team is looking forward to these titles.
2023 had some big titles in store for gamers. “Baldur’s Gate 3,” “Hogwarts Legacy,” “Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,” “Diablo 4,” and “Alan Wake 2” are certainly memorable, but they also overshadow smaller titles and general losses in the industry. The end of the year is not only a good time to reflect on the past but also to look forward to new things. That’s why here is a list of eleven video games the TECHBOOK editorial team is particularly excited about for 2024.

These Video Games to Watch in 2024
A quick note that this is a personal list from the TECHBOOK editorial team, which is why some well-known titles like “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” are missing from the 2024 video games in this article. Additionally, as always, release dates may be subject to change.
Enshrouded – from January 24
The game “Enshrouded” combines many popular genres: RPG, fantasy, open world, survival, action. To navigate the hostile world, you must not only defeat enemies but also gather resources, build a base, and recruit allies.
Tekken 8 – from January 26
“Tekken” is one of the longest-running and most successful video game series ever. For that reason alone, a new title in the series belongs on every highlight list for video games in 2024. In this case, the impressions known so far are very positive. While no major innovations are expected, the graphics already generated excitement at Gamescom.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden – from February 13
The action RPG from the “Life Is Strange” developers is drawing attention with an exciting story. The two protagonists are ghost hunters—until one of them dies and becomes a ghost herself. This already spicy premise is enriched by the fact that they are a married couple. Together, they search for a way to bring ghosts back to the world of the living while continuing their job. The whole thing takes place against a beautiful backdrop reminiscent of 17th/18th century North America.
Nightingale – from February 22
The community has been waiting quite a while for “Nightingale.” The early access launch has already been postponed several times. If it finally happens in February 2024, this video game definitely has highlight potential. Although little is known about the survival game, the setting and initial images are intriguing. There are a number of worlds to explore, each offering its own challenges and resources. These are needed to return to Nightingale—the city from which you were expelled.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 – from March 22
Role-playing fans likely won’t be able to avoid “Dragon’s Dogma 2” in 2024. The highly successful predecessor alone ensures that. The sequel, which players have waited twelve years for, is expected to be even larger and more detailed, offering improved graphics, new classes, and much more. The pawn system, where you can customize your character to a companion, is back.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl – Spring 2024
“Stalker 2” is another sequel to a successful game on our list of the most anticipated video games for 2024. In this case, there are even 14 years between release dates! Many details from the first part reappear in “Stalker 2″—not least the contaminated Pripyat. However, in terms of story and atmosphere, the title is expected to make a leap forward. Fans of single-player shooters likely won’t want to miss this title.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree – Summer 2024
In this paragraph, you almost don’t need to write anything except: A DLC for “Elden Ring” is coming. The game from the “Dark Souls” creators has been causing a stir since its release in early 2022. If the expansion is even half as good, players will have a lot of fun with it. Additionally, almost nothing is known about the DLC; only an artwork has been released. The image suggests that players will encounter Miquella, the brother of Malenia, one of the most challenging and beautifully designed bosses of the base game. But whether there will be a new area or other additions is still unknown. Fans, however, hope that the hidden spot in the middle of the map will finally be revealed…
Valheim: Ashlands
The popular video game “Valheim” is also getting an expansion in 2024. The Viking survival game will receive a new area that—as the title suggests—has a lot to do with ash and lava. There are also new recipes, equipment, and resources to collect.
Hades 2 – Summer 2024
The roguelite title “Hades” came out of nowhere for many in 2018 and celebrated enormous success. As the son of the god of the underworld, you hack your way through various dungeons to escape the dreary life underground. This time, however, Zagreus will not be the protagonist, but his sister Melinoe. So, 2024 promises a video game that builds on the strengths of its predecessor and evolves with a new story and new mechanics.
Black Myth: Wukong – from August 20
“Black Myth: Wukong” impresses in the gameplay material shown so far, especially with one thing: speed. But the graphics have also already received many positive reactions. The Chinese production promises a beautifully designed world and a technically demanding gaming experience, with the mythological Monkey King as the main character.
Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 – Fall 2024
This game was actually on our highlight list for 2023. As is often the case in the gaming industry, the date was pushed back. We’re fine with that—as long as the end result is worth it. Too often, games have been released unfinished due to pressure. In the shooter “Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2,” Captain Titus is finally set to return.
