In late April, a major update was released for the Nintendo Switch. It was supposed to introduce a GameShare feature to the console, which had previously been announced for the Switch 2. However, a critical system error crippled numerous Switch consoles following the update to version 20.0.0. Nintendo has now responded.
With the latest system update to version 20.0.1, Nintendo fixed a major error on the Switch that occurred after the previous update, 20.0.0. Many users reported that their console became unresponsive upon startup, displaying only the error code 2206-1015. The solution: A targeted update that can be installed via maintenance mode if necessary.
Switch Update to Address Startup Issues
With the update to version 20.0.0 at the end of April, many Switch owners experienced significant problems: The console froze immediately upon startup. Devices of the first generation were particularly affected. The error manifested through the display of code 2206-1015, which prevented the console from booting.
With the Switch update to version 20.0.1, Nintendo now provides the appropriate fix. The patch exclusively addresses this specific issue and contains no other changes.

Maintenance Mode as a Contingency Solution
Those who have already encountered the error on their Switch can resolve the faulty version by installing the new update. In most cases, the update occurs automatically, provided the console is connected to the Internet.
If this does not succeed, Nintendo recommends using maintenance mode. To do this, the Switch must be completely turned off. Users then need to hold down the volume up and down buttons simultaneously and also press the power button. Only when the maintenance screen appears should they release the buttons. Through this mode, the system can be updated specifically.
