Several owners of a Nintendo Switch 2 are suddenly reporting banned consoles. One case, in particular, raises questions because support reportedly mentioned an internal error later on.
When someone buys a Nintendo Switch 2, they typically expect to start playing right away. This includes not only installed games but also online features and downloads from Nintendo’s digital store. This is where the current issue lies: Several users report their consoles being banned. Instead of accessing online services, they only see error code 2124-4508.

The reports come from various countries and share a commonality. The affected users claim to have used their consoles normally. Nevertheless, they suddenly lost access to important functions. An official statement from Nintendo is still pending.
Affected users deny allegations
One of the well-known cases comes from Indonesia. According to the user on Reddit, his Switch 2 had worked flawlessly since its purchase on June 9. After a restart on September 6, the ban appeared without warning. The player emphasizes that he neither used pirated copies nor made technical modifications to the console. He then contacted Nintendo support and requested a manual review.
Similarly, a buyer from Japan describes his situation. He bought the Switch 2 and two games new from the electronics chain Yodobashi Camera. After about two hours of gameplay, the console was banned. According to his account, support informed him that he violated the terms of use and used illegal software. The player denies this allegation. Nintendo did not provide him with a more detailed explanation.
A support conversation raises new questions
Particularly interesting is another user’s report. He writes that a Nintendo support employee initially told him that piracy was the reason for the ban. However, in a later conversation on the same day, another employee mentioned an internal server error.
According to the affected user, the ban was subsequently lifted. This raises the question of whether at least some consoles were mistakenly banned. Whether the other reported cases have the same cause remains unclear. Nintendo has not publicly commented on the reports or the alleged server error.
