Nintendo may be working on a new display solution for the Switch 2. The company has not officially commented on this yet. However, it’s clear that since the console’s release, its screen has been a frequent target of criticism. While the display offers a higher resolution in handheld mode than the original Switch, visible blurring can occur during fast movements due to relatively high response times. This is precisely the issue Nintendo might now be addressing.
New Display Module Sparks Speculation
The current speculation was triggered by a single component discovered on a Chinese resale platform. According to the online magazine “Nintendo Everything,” this could be a new display module for the Switch 2. However, this has not been confirmed. It is also unclear whether Nintendo will actually use the component or when it might appear in a console.
The technical features of the discovered module are particularly drawing attention. According to the report from “Nintendo Everything,” the currently available Switch 2 uses a display from Innolux. In contrast, the newly surfaced component is said to be from Sharp. Additionally, the circuitry, connection, and cable apparently differ from the current screen. The Bluesky account Nintendo Patents Watch interprets these differences as a sign of a new display module rather than a standard replacement part.

Model Number Reveals Possible Display Details
The model number LS079T1SX10P is also considered a potential clue. Nintendo Patents Watch deduces that “LS” could stand for Sharp LTPS. The number sequence “079” would suggest a screen diagonal of 7.9 inches, while “T” could indicate a resolution of 1080p. This means the key technical specifications would not change. At the same time, the designation still points to an LCD panel. There are no indications of an OLED display so far.

The speculations surrounding Sharp are further supported by a previous financial report (PDF document) from the company. Nintendo Everything points out that the Hakusan plant has reported higher sales for mobile applications since September 2025. However, this does not confirm an order from Nintendo, as the information is generally formulated. Together with the newly discovered display module, Sharp’s involvement seems at least plausible.
What a New Version Could Bring
The impact of a possible new display remains open. Whether it would actually reduce blurring during fast movements cannot be assessed based on the current information. There are also no details yet on a possible release date, price, or availability.
It is conceivable, however, that Nintendo might introduce a new version of the Switch 2 with the adapted display for Europe. This is primarily intended to meet EU requirements for a more easily replaceable battery.
