Sony is releasing a photo book for the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation, offering rare insights into the console’s development and design. The book includes unpublished photos and sketches of prototypes as well as designs from Sony’s design department.

Sony, alongside Nintendo, has secured a firm place in the gaming console market. The success began in 1994 with the release of the first PlayStation in Japan, followed by launches in the U.S. and Europe a year later. Now, Sony is celebrating its 30-year presence with a special photo book.

The photo book “PlayStation: The First 30 Years” will be released in spring 2026. Over 400 pages, it offers rare insights into the development of PlayStation consoles and their design. The contents include unpublished photos of prototypes as well as sketches and designs from Sony’s design department.
