With the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, Microsoft used one of the year’s most important gaming events to preview upcoming releases. In total, the company showcased 28 new titles in 75 minutes. The program ranged from sequels of well-known series to new role-playing games and a limited anniversary console.
“Halo” Debuts on PlayStation for the First Time
One of the biggest announcements was “Halo: Campaign Evolved.” This title is a remake of the “Halo: Combat Evolved” campaign, set to release on July 28, 2026. For the first time, a title from the series will also be available for the PlayStation 5.
Microsoft is equipping the re-release with modernized technology. This includes updated graphics, redesigned cutscenes, and adjusted controls. Additionally, the company is expanding the story with three missions set before the known events, focusing on Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson. Those who opt for the Premium Edition can start as early as July 23 and receive additional digital extras, including the “Alpha Halo Armory Pack” with special skins for gear and weapons.
“Clockwork Revolution” Focuses on Changeable History
The role-playing game “Clockwork Revolution” by inXile Entertainment takes players to Avalon. The city is visually inspired by a Victorian world full of machines, unusual technology, and hidden secrets.
A special feature is the ability to travel to earlier time periods. Decisions made in the past have immediate effects on the present. This changes power dynamics between groups, alters the development of individual districts, and shifts social structures. The release is planned for 2027 on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
“Fable” Introduces a New Main Character
“Fable” was also a central topic of the showcase. The new trailer introduced Isabel, referred to as the “Hero of Wraithmarsh.” Her title points to the region of Wraithmarsh from “Fable 2,” a cursed swamp full of ghosts, monsters, and lost souls.
The gameplay footage includes magic, weapon combat, encounters with creatures, and exploration in an open world. The presentation also suggests that Albion will take on a much darker tone. Nevertheless, the series’ typical humor remains. The game is set to release on February 23, 2027, for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PS5.
“Gears of War” Looks at the Start of the Catastrophe
With “Gears of War: E-Day,” Microsoft focuses on the start of the Locust invasion. Scenes from the so-called Emergence Day were shown, when the threat suddenly emerged from the depths and caught humanity unprepared.
The story takes players through the destroyed city of Kalona, where they also encounter a young Marcus Fenix. The gameplay stays true to the series’ core principles, focusing on cover-based combat, melee fights, and careful management of limited ammunition. According to the scenes shown, lighting and environmental detail will also play a significant role. The release is planned for October 6, 2026, on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
“Senua” Remains the Focus of a Psychological Journey
Ninja Theory is foregoing the name “Hellblade 3” this time, simply calling the project “Senua.” This puts the main character even more in the spotlight.
The story once again explores the relationship between reality and perception. The depicted world is filled with symbols, hallucinations, and internal conflicts. In addition to cinematic battles, Senua’s confrontation with her past plays a crucial role. The adventure is set to release in 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Cloud.
“State of Decay 3” Intensifies the Survival Struggle
For “State of Decay 3,” Microsoft showcased new gameplay material. It becomes clear that the undead are more aggressive than before. The threat no longer comes solely from large groups.
As in previous installments, building and protecting a community is central. Players must secure bases, manage resources, and make long-term decisions. The concept can be used alone or together with others. The release is planned for 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Cloud.

Anniversary Model Remembers the First Xbox
Not only games were the focus of the event. Microsoft also used the showcase to introduce the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition. The special edition is released in celebration of the Xbox brand’s 25th anniversary.
The console offers 1 terabyte of storage and visually incorporates elements from the first Xbox. Particularly striking is the transparent green casing. It also features an anniversary logo and other design elements inspired by previous generations. When turned on, the familiar “X” lights up in green. The package also includes a matching controller with a transparent design and nods to the earlier “Duke” controller. The limited edition is set to release in November 2026. Microsoft did not provide pricing information.
“Wo Long” Gets a Sequel
With “Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember,” Team Ninja continues the series. Combat remains the central element of the game. Timing, quick reactions, and precise parries determine success or failure.
The journey takes players through war-torn areas where numerous supernatural enemies await. The title stays true to its mix of fantasy, action, and challenging duels. The release is planned for spring 2027 on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Cloud.
“Crazy Taxi” Hits the Road Again
After a long hiatus, “Crazy Taxi” is making a comeback. Sega announced “Crazy Taxi: World Tour,” a new installment in the arcade series that dates back to the late 1990s.
The trailer shows fast rides through a bustling metropolis, featuring jumps, drifts, and unusual shortcuts. Axel is once again part of the driver lineup, with new characters added to the mix. The core principle remains unchanged: passengers must be delivered to their destinations as quickly as possible. The new installment is set to release in 2027 for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
“Valor Mortis” Combines War and Fantasy
Among the new brands at the showcase is “Valor Mortis.” The action-soulslike tells the story of William, a Napoleonic soldier who awakens in an alternate version of Europe after his death.
In the trailer, Napoleon Bonaparte, portrayed by Vincent Cassel, plays an important role. The combat system combines swords, bayonets, firearms, and supernatural powers. The title is set to release on September 24, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

New Chapter in the “A Plague Tale” Universe
With “Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy,” the series receives a prequel. Publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Asobo Studio introduce a new main character named Sophia.
Her journey leads to the mysterious island of the Minotaur. There, she seeks answers about her past while facing dangerous pursuers and deadly challenges. The story takes place about 15 years before the events of the main series. Historical elements meet Minoan mythology and supernatural influences. The music is composed by Olivier Derivière. The game is set to release on August 27, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
“Spyro” Returns to a Threatened World
Spyro is also making a comeback. Activision announced “Spyro: A Realm Beyond” and showed first scenes from the new adventure.
The focus is on a fantasy world whose balance is disrupted by a purple crystal. The shown sections feature flights over lakes, journeys through vast areas, and the use of the dragon’s familiar abilities. The release is planned for spring 2027 on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2.

“Modern Warfare 4” Showcases the DMZ Mode
An initial look was also given at the DMZ mode of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.” This is a game mode focused on extraction.
The shown mission takes a team into a shopping mall. There, they are to gather information on an important target and subsequently complete further tasks. The presentation emphasizes the high importance of teamwork. Night vision technology, scarce supplies, and constantly appearing enemies add to the pressure. At the same time, players must repeatedly decide whether to advance further or retreat in time. “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4” is set to release on October 23, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
