Deutsche Telekom has introduced a small but significant change to its in-house internet plans, offering more flexibility for customers with (V)DSL or fiber-optic connections. However, they will have to forgo some benefits.
Starting now, the MagentaZuhause plans can be booked as a monthly cancellable Flex version. Telekom is expanding its offerings beyond the previously available plans, which had a minimum term of 24 months. Those opting for the Flex version will have to give up some extras. Telekom Does Not Offer All MagentaZuhause Plans as Flex Version
The option to book MagentaZuhause plans without a contract term is now available to Telekom customers. However, the provider offers this for only three of its four plans. The MagentaZuhause S with 16 Mbps is only available with a two-year contract. In contrast, the MagentaZuhause M with 50 Mbps, MagentaZuhause L with 100 Mbps, and MagentaZuhause XL with 250 Mbps offer customers a choice between the monthly cancellable option and the 24-month minimum term version. Additionally, these three plans can be booked for either (V)DSL (copper) or fiber-optic connections.
The basic features of both the Flex and term versions of Telekom’s MagentaZuhause plans are identical. However, the price advantage offered by Telekom is not available with the monthly cancellable plans. During the first six months of the contract, all term plans cost only 19.95 euros per month. Starting from the seventh month, the network operator charges the regular base fee for the respective plan.
These Extra Costs Apply to Flex Plans
The MagentaZuhause M Flex costs 42.95 euros from the first month. The MagentaZuhause L Flex from Telekom costs 47.95 euros. The most expensive is the MagentaZuhause XL Flex at 54.95 euros per month, but it also offers the fastest maximum speed of 250 Mbps.
If customers use the Flex plans for at least 24 months, they will have to pay significantly more. The additional costs due to the loss of the credit within the first six months range from 138 euros to 210 euros. Additionally, Telekom charges a one-time connection fee of 69.95 euros for MagentaZuhause Flex, unless it is a tariff or provider change, but a new connection. For comparison: O2 and Vodafone charge connection fees of 49.99 euros, while 1&1 charges 49.95 euros for DSL connections and 69.95 euros for fiber-optic connections.

Customers who also book a mobile connection with Telekom alongside MagentaZuhause (Flex) receive a small price advantage. In the bundle, they save 5 euros per month and also receive double the mobile data volume.
