After Deutsche Telekom already adjusted its MagentaZuhause internet plans and offers them as a monthly cancellable Flex option upon request, the mobile plans are now being updated. Customers with MagentaMobil Prepaid will receive more data volume and now even 5G in the smallest plan.
In recent months, more and more mobile discount providers have enabled 5G in their prepaid plans. Telekom has long allowed its prepaid users to surf via 5G. Until now, however, the smallest option, MagentaMobil Prepaid S, was excluded. That is changing now. At the same time, the plans are getting more data volume without a price increase. For customers, this means more value for their money.
Telekom MagentaMobil Prepaid with More Data Volume
The new tariff conditions apply from September 20 for both new and existing customers, provided they use a plan booked after May 2022. MagentaMobil Prepaid S receives the biggest upgrade, as it will now offer 1 GB instead of 500 MB of data volume, and Telekom is also enabling 5G. The fast mobile standard was previously missing from the €4.95 offer, so customers could only surf via LTE. However, the other conditions remain unchanged. The plan still includes a phone and SMS flat rate within the Telekom network and 50 free minutes to all German networks.
The other prepaid plans from Telekom are equipped with an all-net flat rate. Here, users have already had access to 5G for some time. In the future, they will also receive more data volume. In the MagentaMobil Prepaid M plan, this increases from 3 GB to 4 GB. Prepaid L sees an increase of 3 GB, totaling 8 GB, and Prepaid XL’s included data volume rises from 7 GB to a whopping 18 GB. Only the MagentaMobil Prepaid Max remains unchanged, as it has always included unlimited data volume.
Telekom has also adjusted its annual plan. This costs a one-time fee of €99.95 and is valid for twelve months. Previously, in addition to the all-net flat rate, there was a monthly data volume of 3 GB, totaling 36 GB. From September 20, however, this increases to 48 GB, which corresponds to 4 GB per month.

When examining the plan details, it becomes apparent that users do not necessarily surf faster in the network despite 5G access. This is because 5G in the prepaid plans, like LTE, allows a maximum of 300 Mbps downstream. However, users have the advantage of less congested networks compared to LTE, resulting in better coverage.
