Wifi 6 promises faster and more stable data transmissions. Manufacturer AVM already offers suitable routers, and now, for the first time, a Wi-Fi repeater to expand the home network is available. The Fritz!Repeater 6000 is expected to be available in stores starting in May.
The new Wi-Fi repeater from AVM can be integrated into an existing mesh system with just a few clicks. The new device is not a plug that operates directly from a socket but rather a small box reminiscent of AVM’s LTE routers. What sets the Fritz!Repeater 6000 apart is its support for Wifi 6 (ax), which no other AVM repeater offers so far.
AVM Fritz!Repeater 6000 Achieves Up to 6 Gbit/s via Wifi 6
For a Wi-Fi repeater, the Fritz!Repeater 6000 comes with extensive features. Like the Fritz!Repeater 3000, it can operate on three frequency bands with its three radio modules. AVM calls this tri-band operation. The 2.4 GHz band and one of the streams in the 5 GHz band are fully available for data transmission. The additional 5 GHz module communicates with the Fritzbox to function optimally within the mesh system.
The AVM Fritz!Repeater 6000 reaches peak rates of up to 6 Gbit/s. In the 2.4 GHz band, it achieves up to 1200 Mbit/s, and in the 5 GHz band, it reaches twice up to 2400 Mbit/s. However, the new AVM Wi-Fi repeater does not yet support the recently released 6 GHz band, which is the basis for the next stage, Wifi 6E.

Features and Price
To connect additional devices, the Fritz!Repeater 6000 from AVM has two LAN ports that allow particularly fast data transfer rates of 2.5 Gbit/s and 1 Gbit/s. These ports can also integrate devices into the home network that do not support Wi-Fi. Additionally, the Wi-Fi repeater offers convenience features such as mesh steering, guest Wi-Fi access, and scheduling.
The AVM Fritz!Repeater is backward compatible and can be paired with routers that do not yet support Wifi 6–including models from other manufacturers if desired. According to AVM, it will be available in stores starting in May, with a manufacturer’s warranty of five years. However, with a suggested retail price of 219 euros, the Wi-Fi repeater is not inexpensive.
