For DSL and fiber-optic connections, 1&1 is upgrading its standard router to a new generation. The Fritzbox 7620 will now serve as the HomeServer, replacing the previously used Fritzbox 7520. This change introduces the Wi-Fi 7 standard to the provider’s entry-level segment.
With the Fritzbox 7620, 1&1 is modernizing its router offerings for fixed-line connections. The new HomeServer supports Wi-Fi 7 and is designed to deliver higher performance and more stable Wi-Fi connections, even with many devices connected simultaneously.
According to the manufacturer, the router achieves data rates of up to 1,440 Mbps in the 5 GHz band and up to 688 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band. The device does not support the 6 GHz frequency band, but integration into existing mesh networks is still possible.
More Ports and Updated Technology
The hardware has also been improved. While the previous HomeServer offered two Gigabit LAN ports and two Fast Ethernet ports, the Fritzbox 7620 features four Gigabit LAN ports.
A new USB controller is also expected to enable higher transfer rates for connected storage devices. The hardware is designed for applications such as streaming, gaming, and smart home use.

Price and Device Change
The new HomeServer is now available. With a suitable 1&1 plan, the monthly rental remains at 4.99 euros. There is also a one-time setup fee of 49.95 euros and shipping costs of 9.90 euros.
New customers receive the Fritzbox 7620 with a suitable plan. According to the company, existing customers can also switch to the new HomeServer, but currently only as part of a plan change. Those who prefer a more powerful version can opt for the HomeServer+ based on the Fritzbox 7630.
