Music fans should prepare for a price hike for Spotify Premium. Starting in September, users in European countries will have to pay more for the music streaming service. All customers will receive an email during the month informing them of the change.
Spotify Premium with Price Increase
The price increase affects all users with a Premium subscription. This includes not only the individual plan but also other models such as the student plan, the duo plan for two people, and the family plan. The service also offers a free version with ads.
Spotify is the leading provider in the music streaming sector, recently recording 696 million users, of which 276 million are paying customers. The company cites the need to continue providing innovations and the “best experience” as the reason for the new price increase for Spotify Premium.
Price Increase for Spotify Premium Also in Germany?
The price increase follows a familiar pattern: Initially, users are attracted with low entry prices. Once a large user base is established, providers regularly raise prices. This approach is common not only among music streaming services like Spotify but also with TV streamers such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
